BOTANICAL INNOVATIONS

BOTANICAL INNOVATION

Plants contain extraordinarily complex combinations of naturally occurring compounds.

Their chemistry varies according to species, variety, plant part, geography, climate, season and growing conditions. Further changes can occur during harvesting, extraction, concentration, drying and storage.

Botanical Innovations investigates these relationships through systematic experimentation.

The research seeks to understand connections.

Botanical source, Bioactive compound, Extraction technology, Processing conditions, Carrier systems, Stability and Final ingredient performance.

PROPRIETARY BIO ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Natural botanical materials are inherently variable.

Rather than treating this variability simply as a manufacturing problem, Botanical Innovations is investigating how chemically characterised botanical sources containing common bioactive compounds can be combined and processed to create more consistent proprietary ingredient systems.

Research encompasses naturally occurring polyphenols, phenolic acids, terpenes, flavonoids and other bioactive compounds with potential pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, beverage and personal-care applications.

EXTRACTION, ENCAPSULATION & STABILITY

Extracting a compound is only part of the challenge.

Many naturally occurring phytochemicals are sensitive to oxygen, heat, light, moisture and processing conditions.

Botanical Innovations therefore investigates the complete pathway from raw botanical

material through extraction and purification to concentration, encapsulation, drying and storage.

Carrier systems and microencapsulation technologies are developed to protect sensitive compounds and transform botanical extracts, essential oils and other liquids into stable and functional powders.

RESEARCH TO COMMERCIALISATION

Botanical Innovations operates at the intersection of laboratory research and commercial manufacturing.

Projects progress from literature research and experimental design through laboratory trials, analytical evaluation, prototype development, pilot processing and commercialisation.

The objective is not simply to produce another botanical extract.

It is to develop better understood, analytically characterised and commercially useful botanical technologies.
